Pirate Bay Sold for $7.8 Million
Enormous news broke yesterday when information got leaked to the press concerning the purchase of The Pirate Bay. It’s alleged that they got $7.8 million for the site which will be turned over to the buyers, Global Gaming Factory X, in August. That may seem undervalued for a site that is nearly in the top 100 sites on the Internet according to Alexa (currently at 112), but given their legal troubles it isn’t surprising that they weren’t able to milk it for all it’s worth. It didn’t take long for The Pirate Bay to respond to the news, and they confirmed that they are indeed being acquired by Global Gaming Factory X.
